About Us
The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Redwood City (UUFRC) is a religious community that joins together to grow spiritually and intellectually. We offer opportunities for personal growth and development for all ages. We encourage exploration of our Unitarian Universalist heritage and of other religious and philosophical views. We welcome diversity of belief, lifestyle, and culture. We pledge to work toward a world with true equality for all. We are members of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) and the Pacific Central District of the UUA.
We welcome all interested persons--regardless of race, religious background, affectional orientation, age, ability, or economic status--to join with us in our liberal religious community as we live out our Unitarian Universalist principles in the world.
We invite you to browse this website to learn more about our congregation and its activities, and we hope you will join us at a Sunday service to meet us in person.
Our Mission Statement
Welcome all! We nurture each other on our personal and spiritual journeys as we work for peace, compassionate justice and a healthy planet.
Brief History
Our fellowship was chartered in 1959 by a group of 52 people, with the generous help of the Palo Alto Unitarian Church. We began as a lay-led group, but called our first minister, the Rev. William Houff, in 1964. After several other ministers, the Fellowship returned to lay-led status in 1983, under the able administrative leadership of Pat Crawford. In June 1967, we purchased our present building from First Christian Church. We paid off the mortgage in 1984.
